Professor Cosson dissects the anatomy of POP surgery meshes and reveals their intricate knitting. He emphasizes the need for the mechanical properties of the mesh to fit those of the pelvic tissues they are used for. Far from perfect, propylene in that regard is nevertheless still the best mesh on the market, in spite of a high variability in its fabrication process. Research in this area and innovative materials are required to find the perfect mesh.
