The laparoscopic approach to small bowel obstructions (SBO) may represent a challenge to the surgeon due to the lack of space and small bowel distension. Consequently, a high risk of iatrogenic injuries may occur. The laparoscopic approach allows to confirm the diagnosis of a simple fibrotic band, evolution of an oncologic disease or simple adhesions. Depending on the surgeon’s skills, the laparoscopic approach may also be therapeutic and offers the patient all the advantages of the minimally invasive approach such as fewer peritoneal adhesions.
