Colorectal polyps are classified as neoplastic or non-neoplastic. The majority of polyps are small, non-neoplastic, and incidentally found during colonoscopy. The malignant potential depends on the type of the polyp, size and degree of dysplasia. High grades of dysplasia, polyps greater than 1cm in diameter are associated with an increased risk of malignancy.
