This video demonstrates one of many options of dealing with CBD stones. This video demonstrates a transduodenal sphincteroplasty of the ampulla of Vater through a duodenotomy made following kocherization of the duodenum. A choledochoscope is used to examine the CBD and aid in removal of the stones. The duodenotomy is closed in a transverse fashion. This technique requires a duodenotomy, which often is enlarged during the course of surgery and is not a preferred technique in dealing with CBD stones, but if a papillotomy is required due to long stenosis, then it may be a good option.
