In this lecture, the importance of performing a restoration of the pericervical ring after laparoscopic hysterectomy is discussed in order to prevent the occurrence of a pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The supportive role of the uterosacral ligaments and data regarding prevention taken from the laparotomic and vaginal route shed a light on this ongoing debate.
