Robotics on brachial plexus: Brazilian experience

In this key lecture, Dr. Gustavo Mantovani Ruggiero, a robotic microsurgery pioneer in Latin America, shares his current clinical experience in brachial plexus surgery using this new technology. The current Brazilian economical and social scenario is corelated to the difficulties of using an expensive instrument in new indications where clinical evidence of advantages as compared to conventional surgery has not yet been proven. Local healthcare system aspects represent a major limitation to financial support of such new procedures, and creative solutions must be used to succeed in this new medical area.
