Surgical indications for total rectal prolapse in children are rare. Surgery is decided upon after full clinical work-up, including a sweat test to rule out the possibility of cystic fibrosis, a malformation work-up of the caudal region as well as a medullary MRI. This video demonstrates the laparoscopic rectal promontopexy for prolapse in a 15-year-old boy.
